Rear Diff Assembly and Suspension

A new Moser M9 rear diff assembly was recently acquired from a fellow enthusiast who purchased it new, but decided to change his build and we lucked out with this amazing deal at a much lower than retail price. In the photos below, a Moser M9 rear diff with axles, Moser gears and spool, Yukon Pro Series diff gear housing, and a Dayton pinion support with 1350 yoke.

We were so excited with the new parts that we did not hesitate to apply some chassis black paint and assemble. Some double adjustable rear upper and lower control arms were acquired from Iceman Racing Products and powdercoated a lime green.

After some fitment and adjustments, all is well. More adjustments are needed, but that will be saved for a more completed car.

Rack and Pinion Steering for the Malibu

The 1980 Malibu, Sidepiece, has been delivered to Chris Terry Racing and much work has been done towards the 25.3 certified roll cage. For now I want to recap the last work completed before the car left for Chris Terry Racing. Sweet Manufacturing and Innovative Racecraft will be steering this car in the right direction, which we hope will be straight down the track.

A few months later and we are back at work. A lot of things are happening during this time of year and I'm sure everyone can relate. We enjoyed ourselves as spectators at LS Fest in Bowling Green, KY. in September and the Goodguys 25th Southeastern Nationals in Concord, NC. in October. We could not pass up our chance for another Ron Sutton Workshop in Concord just before the Goodguys event. Now we have some new suspension components from Straight Shot Performance for the Malibu.

New lightweight fiberglass body panels have arrived for the 1980 Malibu Xtreme Street race car. Some parts fit perfect, others...not so much. Adjusting the fit and installation did take some time to make sure the Dzus fasteners do their job at holding these panels on the car.

Strange Master Cylinder, JT Raceshop Mounts/Adapters, and UMI Performance Mounts

Much has been accomplished throughout this past week. There have been pedals installed with a new brake master cylinder, a HVAC delete panel, a Chevrolet LS engine painted Ford blue for fun, and some fitment checks with the body bolted to the frame.

Rear Diff Assembly and Suspension

Some new parts for the Malibu and we do love parts. It feels like Christmas every time. We have some Moser and Yukon components getting some paint and installation.

Another blasted frame

Here is another blasted frame with some chassis black from Eastwood. This time the blasting was performed in house, or just outside in the grass on some jack stands.

A Little Bit of Color for the Sidepiece

After some timely and tedious repairs, the car is getting it's first coat of paint.

Stripped Down and Blasted

After pulling the frame off, there was some damage found, but before the repairs start it must be stripped of all hardware and electrical then sand blasted. This will bring the steel body down to bare metal unfortunately exposing weak areas in the sheet metal.
